Battlefield 4 teaser poster analysis
Yesterday we revealed the very first Battlefield 4 wallpaper slash teaser poster, and today we’ll try to analyze it and see what we can find.
To begin with, the colors and style are very alike to BF3. We’re unsure about the city in the background, but rumors point towards Shanghai, which would be an interesting setting for Battlefield 4. Of course, just because the city is in the background doesn’t mean it’ll have anything to do with the game. Maybe the skyline just looks cool.
The Battlefield 4 soldier looks like the classic (and perhaps cliched) “war hero”, draped in full combat gear. We don’t know what DICE’s obsession is with the “glowing soldier” effect, but they seem to like it enough to continue with the style.
The soldier sports a few Battlefield 4 weapons, including a pistol and a sniper / marksman rifle. The pistol appears to be an M1911 with a flashlight attachment — a popular gun from the previous game in the series.
The rifle he carries appears to be a suppressed version of the M39 EMR sniper rifle found in BF3. The rifle was also featured in Bad Company 2 as the M14 EBR. This time, it also features a bipod, which leads us to believe that rifle and gun attachment unlocks will return to BF4.
The teaser poster also reveals some Battlefield 4 vehicles. The APC in the left foreground is the LAV-25, which was playable in BF2 and BF3, and is expected to return in Battlefield 4.
The tank behind the solder is obviously the famous M1 Abrams, which has been found in every modern Battlefield game to date.
Overall, the artwork is very similar to the first BF3 artwork (which we’re using as our header background, as a matter of fact). It features exactly the same vehicles and style, which might be an indication that Battlefield 4 won’t be that different from BF3. We’ll have to wait and see. The official unveiling is set for March 26.
