EA has revealed a ton of Battlefield 4 news today. Not only did we finally get an official Battlefield 4 release date, it was also confirmed that the game is coming to next gen system as well.

But EA and DICE aren’t done, apparently. They also revealed a brand new Battlefield 4 DLC, called “China Rising”. The new downloadable content will be offered for free to those who pre-order the game, which begs the question: what happened to Drone Strike, the original DLC that was offered to those who pre-ordered?

Anyways, Battlefield 4 China Rising will feature 4 new maps, new vehicles, and as the promo image puts it, “high tech gear”. We imagine it’ll include a bunch of new dog tags, awards, assignments, weapon skins, and other goodies.

The China Rising DLC will also be offered free of charge to Battlefield 4 Premium members. Otherwise, it will likely retail at $15, just as the previous DLC in the series. Looks like we just got another great reason to pre order the game.

DICE has revealed the official box art of the DLC, and some screenshots as well, which you can find below:

Looks good, I think Dice and EA now feel pressure from COD, But looks great, the picture show some kind of bomber, I can wait to see both games COD and BF in E3 i think bf4 is going to beat ghost with no problem based on game play.

This is BS! DLC is in the planning stages already? JUST PUT THOSE MAPS IN THE GAME! I don’t want the DLC to divide BF4 into many parts like BF3 did. I just want new maps and maybe one “special” DLC like BFBC2 Vietnam. DLC used to be free, but now that EA has a major money maker and will make TONS of money, they make the game MORE EXPENSIVE TO PLAY THAN EVERY BEFORE! Enough, just isn’t enough. Games should be fun, not an investment. Some people are already going to shovel out at least $400 for a new console, the least you can do for them is to package BF4 with it.

Rest assured, the same DLC model WILL segregate the community, just like it did in BF3. And for what? Barely anyone’s playing the DLC maps, it’s al Operation Métro, Noshahr Canals and Kharg Island 24/7.

Meh, guess I wont be preordering it, or buying at all the first few months. i’ll just wait for the discount on the BF4 Premium membership sure to be coming at the beginning of the next year.

You’ve got it all wrong. They could just make the intial game and then stop. But, they have chosen to add more and more dlc as time goes on to keep the game fresh. You shouldnt get those for free..they arent part of the intial game…they are expansions. Dont want to buy them? Then dont.

No sense in making games if no money is up for grabs. 2 solutions here. First, if you find it un-affordable, go back to playing Mrs Pacman. Second, stop crying, and save a bit more money if you want it so bad. You want these great games, with all the trimmings, but you don’t want to “pay for it. Get real mate, good games with top end functions, cost money.

Wait, so DLC is “free of charge” for Premium? Well then what is the $50 charge for Premium buying? I guess we’re going to pay $50 for a crayola box cutter knife skin and the privilege to say we’re Premium players. And the DLC is just included “free of charge” because of the overwhelming generosity of EA’s collective hearts.

DLC is not “free of charge” for Premium members. It is 95% of the reason people purchase (with real money) Premium. The reason EA is offering the DLC for $10 less than you would pay for them individually is because they would prefer for you to purchase Premium than wait. When you purchase Premium, they get all of your money up front (months in advance of the product release), and they don’t have to worry about losing sales in the future due to poor product quality or waning interest. That is why they are willing to offer all of the DLC plus a few cheap extras for $10 less than the DLC costs individually.

I’m not completely against the idea of Premium. BF3 Premium ended up being worth the purchase at the release of the final DLC. But let’s please not buy into the stupid marketing rhetoric EA vomits out to make the product look better than it is, like saying the DLC is included “free of charge”.

I couldn’t agree more, they’re deliberately holding back content so they can sell it at a later date for 25% of price of the original game.
The gaming industry is becoming rather rotten.
People need to STOP pre-ordering games and ignoring DLC, maybe that will get publisher’s attention.

The China Rising dlc is free to the ones who pre ordered bf4. Premium you paid for to get all the other dlc maps.

Hope they will include Wake Island Dalian plant, Dragon Valley and fuushe pass in it.

Well that’s 15 of us Soldiers that won’t be buying BF4. We’re all fed-up with the costs of the maps that hardly anyone uses. Even the story lines are starting to suck. BF4 cut back on the overtime at the studios if you need to make 3x times the profit. Even at GAMESTOP stores pre-orders fell to almost 2 a week. That shows people arent digging the cost. GHOSTS looks like the way to go.

And COD map packs dont cost money? With COD they repackage the same game and tell you its new. If you are considering COD then BF is not for you.

ARE YOU GUYS KIDDING ME? You guys bitch all day about pricing for some of the greatest games of all time! Do u no how stressfull it is to make a
Game like this! If they just “gave it away” they wouldnt be able to make cool games anymore and then youd bitch about the low quality games! Seriosly?!?!?! Youd find anything to complain about. Guys. ITS 15 DOLLARS! Thats 2 hours of minimum wage. I can find that just searching around the house. Get lives and just ENJOY the game. If youre complaining all the game youll never have fun and hate the game!!!!!

I think it’s a good deal, you buy the main game, then premium.
You receive all DLC`s and double XP and additional assignments.

    Remember BF2? First the € 50,00 then 4 DLCS 12,99 each.

The content that BF3 adds every DLC is good and worth the money.

And to be honest, they deserve it.

Dice is one of the innovators that dear to bring out new engines and finally listen to the community.

    I love Dice 😉
