A complete list of all the new things revealed in the recently leaked alpha screenshots.

Earlier today, a huge pile of Battlefield 4 multiplayer alpha screenshots leaked. The screenshots reveal a game that’s very much in the early stages, but they also reveal some brand new details about the game. Some new weapons and vehicles, some new specializations and features, and more. We’ve compiled a full list of all the new details revealed:

New Battlefield 4 features

  • The alpha screenshots are from the Xbox 360 version
  • New Asian weapons were revealed, such as the Chinese QBU-88 sniper rifle and the Singapore-made U-100 light machine gun.
  • Different types of scopes, including 14X optical, ACOG, red dot, and more.
  • The “Cougar MRAP” vehicle was spotted instead of the usual Humvee
  • Specializations are categorized as “offensive” and “defensive”
  • Squads hold 5 players now.
  • Battlefield 4 Battlepacks are confirmed
  • The map shown was called “Siege” and took place in Shanghai
  • Still four classes: Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer
  • Tanks (M1 Abrams) seem to have limited ammo this time
  • Tanks will have different shell options just like in BF3

There’s a “Knife” slot, it could be to bring the option of choose different knife models (choose between normal and Premium knife…or maybe even more models)

I wonder what that circular symbol next to the primary/pistol selections could be?
Maybe now we can change ammo types…. Hollow points anyone?

You clearly state, “New Asian weapons were revealed, such as the Chinese QBU-88 sniper rifle and the Singapore-made U-100 light machine gun.”

This is false. According to the screenshots, and weapon silhouettes, there has not been a single new weapon shown or introduced yet as of this leak.

    1. The QBU-88 Sniper Rifle was in Battlefield 3. It is unlocked after completing the “SpecOps” Assignment. IT IS NOT NEW. – via Battlefield Wiki

    2. Singapore-made “U-100 LMG” AKA the ‘Ultimax’. This gun is nowhere shown in the screenshots. The loadout screen says the title of “U-100 MK5” Which is real weapon, but the silhouette of the gun is clearly identical to the M249 made by FN Herstal and was available in BF3. The “MK5” Variant of the U-100 Ultimax includes “Mark 5: Updated variant of the Mark 4 with a folding stock, Picatinny rails and M16 STANAG 4179 magazine well that will accept 30-round box magazines and the 100-round Beta C-Mag drum.” (via Wikipedia). The weapon silhouette clearly does not show any of those features, such as a folding stock, or a C-mag drum.

Also, going thru the screenshots, remember that EA is going to discontinue its licensing of real world weapons included in their games, taking notes of the loadout screens and matching pictures to those of BF3, which are IDENTICAL, the weapons should be as follows:

    CZ-805 = M16A3/A4
    QBZ-95-1 = QBZ-95B
    CZ-3A1 = PDW-R
    QSZ-92 = MP-443
    SCOUT ELITE = M40A5

The fact is, they havent really shown anything new. The only exceptions, were the vehicle stuff, and quite possibly the 14x scope, which it looks exactly like the 12x scope pretty much, so they probably just got rid of the 12x, or its included in that “variable zoom scope”. Even the specialization Offensive looks to be just “Sprint”. Other than those small things, every weapon, attachment, camouflage, dog tags, even all the meadals and ribbons is the exact same as those in BF3. im really starting to get disappointed. Its looking like they just took the multiplayer from BF3 and ported it right in, changed some insignificant minor details, and are hacking it as BF4. Where are the new gameplay mechanics? Where a slide into cover or a cover system period? How about instead of just always dying, you can go into a “last stand/man down” situation and still crawl and fire a pistol like in Co-op? I want new exciting features. I want NEW things to play with for a NEW game. Hopefully E3 really shows us something nice.

The gun pictures are stand ins for the real thing. The alpha stage is all about development. The gun pictures are not need to develop the game. Those are finishing touches.

They’re also not even the same gun. The gun names do exist.

Look at what the model is actually holding in the PDW/CZ picture. It’s not a PDW-R. The silhoutte image is a placeholder PDW-R but the rifle is a CZ-3A1. Same goes for the M16/CZ 805. Can’t tell with ultimax 100 because if the angle.

Trust me, these pictures are at least 6 months old. You don’t have to believe me, of course, but these pictures are old. The guns textures are placeholders.

I haven’t seen the game, but someone I know has. He was impressed. You’ll see tomorrow…

If you look next to “kits” you can see a icon of a male or Female which could possibly indicate that there are gender options. It would make no sense to include a gender icon if there was no gender options.

I hope the MRAP is in the actual game

If they have to give all the weapons fake names, that’s crap. I realise they aren’t licencing, but surely there is something else they can do. It’s like racing games that aren’t licenced to use cars…. It’s crap.

Nicholas, Come on bro, Is alpha, Not even close to be ready, You can judge the game by those pictures, i am also kind of skeptic about what i saw today, The game kind of look like bf3, But let’s realize, Bf4 should have weapons, Should have soldiers, Should have vehicles, You can’t call bf4 the same, I mean is a shooter! What do you expect?!

hhmm…. there’s no commander class in the list & why only 5 squad members ? make it 6 or 7 squad members !

5 man squads is an odd number. Does that mean that current gen will get bumped up to 25 players? I doubt it will go up any more. 5 is just strange. And five does not go into 64 evenly. It would need to be atleast 65.

will what do you say about their spec maybe it can handle over 25 players ? after all we have to wait 9 hours to see , hopefully something excellent will happen .

Next gen can, but for current gen, no. 24 players was the max for all battlefield games that came out on console. I’m puzzled.
