Caspian Border and Kharg Island maps returning to Battlefield 4?

The latest Battlelog trailer showed two of BF3's most played maps in the server browser.

DICE recently released a brand new Battlefield 4 trailer, showcasing the new Battlelog and its many features. The new Battlelog will have a ton of multiplayer, social, and matchmaking options, but we spotted one thing in the trailer that initially went unnoticed: the popular BF3 maps Caspian Border and Kharg Island appear on the Battlefield 4 server browser in the trailer.

DICE is known for remaking famous Battlefield maps — every version of the game since BF1942 has had at least one map remade. BF3 featured 4 maps from older Battlefield games. We wouldn’t be surprised if some of the Battlefield 4 maps turn out to be remakes, especially of popular ones like Kharg Island and Caspian Border.

Of course, there’s always the chance that these maps were simply placeholders for the trailer. But in that case, DICE might as well have used Siege of Shanghai. During the new trailer, another map was also spotted: a linear, snow-covered conquest map that reminds us of Port Valdez from Bad Company 2.

Check out the screenshot from the trailer where Kharg Island and Caspian Border were spotted (click the image for larger view):

Battlefield 4 Kharg Caspian

If DICE remade any maps for Battlefield 4, which ones would you love to see (besides Kharg Island and Caspian Border).

Sharing is caring!

I did a video on this myself on my youtube chan and I did wonder if the video was showing us Caspien and Khargs return but with a little more investigation you can clearly see the Filter is set to only show BF3 and some of the DLC from BF3. So its safe to assume the image was taken to prevent us seeing any more information than they wanted us to see.

We will see metro for sure. I would be amazed if we don’t its the biggest played map in BF3 so despite people like yourself not liking it, I would say its pretty clear that a lot do so it will return for sure.

Could be, but one thing is that the images don’t match the maps.

And that there is a server called “DUMM – TDM Noshahr Kanals Only” and you can see it both at the top and in the list at the bottom but it runs a different map in both spots and none of them are Noshahr Kanals.

Well, the server filter is set to BF3 maps, i’m guessing you could look at BF3 servers on BF4 Battlelog. But I believe we’re getting caspian on Second Assault anyway.

I think this is the case too.

This is a new and improved Battlelog, not a Battlefield 4 specific battlelog if I’m correct. It makes sense that they would be using Battlefield 3 servers in the new Battlelog in that case.

        Exactly. Filter explains it.

We are getting the four most popular maps from BF3 base game in the Second Assault expansion pack. This has all been confirmed. Operation Metro, Caspian Border, Noshahr Canals, and either Operation Firestorm OR Kharg Island will be the four maps set to release with it. If there’s a website that tracks how popular the maps are, then whatever the top four are will be the four in the DLC, guaranteed.

I’m curious if some of the older Battlefield maps will make a return too. After all I believe Wake Island has been in 1942, BF2, 2142, BF3…all of the Battlefields so far if I remember correctly.

BF 1943 had it. But BF:Vietnam (There was a WW2 mod that added wake island, but that was a mod) BF2:MC, BC1, and BC2 didn’t have it.

I think it’s only a place holder, DICE wouldn’t overlook something like this

caspain boarder is nice but i don’t like kharg island that much but only in rush at least if they are remaking old maps they should listen to the community i mean how about this dlc : grand bazaar , armored shield , seine crossing & operation firestorm ?

They are clearly placeholders. Or what, did you expect them to put on the names of UNANNOUNCED maps?

yes! metro is there as well, so these are not bf4 maps.( or is it the Second Assault DLC?)

A closer look reveals the filter is set to Battlefield 3 and includes BF3 DLCs. I think it is more likely they were using BF3 to gather their Battlelog 2.0 footage because it is a complete game at the time of filming, whereas BF4 is incomplete/would reveal too much.

They should add a preview of the next upcoming map for the next match. Cuz on bf3 i just be trying to guess what comes up lol

they will keep metro as it is a small map they may remake it or something but they need a tight map to draw some COD players in… no but it is different

I think they should redo metro, but this time with collapsing tunnels, trains getting derailed while moving, certain dark areas where flash lights and infa red are needed, and just alot more tunnels and destruction in general.
