New Battlefield 4 screenshots

EA has released a few new BF4 screenshots, one from multiplayer and one from singleplayer.

Battlefield 4 multiplayer screenshot

EA and DICE have released a pair of new Battlefield 4 screenshots. The first one shows the multiplayer map Siege of Shanghai, and its main feature: the big collapsing tower in the middle of the map. In order to collapse the tower in the game, players have to destroy four supporting columns inside.

The second screenshot is from the Battlefield 4 singleplayer campaign, and is very similar to what we have seen in the past. The singleplayer screenshot is from the gameplay mission we saw during the E3 presentation. It takes place on a US aircraft carrier that’s come under attack from the Chinese forces.

No you cannot because it would not be awesome for DICE if you recreated 911.

Hopefully there will be no scripted events in multiplayer.

Actually the building they showed is the only building that will be destructible in that way, each map will have only 1 “event” that will be constructable like that……I am unimpressed…..yet again ea is playing with smoke and mirrors….

man….. are you sure that this is confirmed information ? we don’t know , we just saw the one map gameplay & the alpha besides they have 3 months to work on the destruction for bigger buildings & other important things like battle-recorder ( altho i have my own game recorder ) so let’s wait & watch the new videos on battlefield youtube channel .

The skyscraper collapse is a scripted event, like the radio mast in Caspian Border. While there are a number of scripted events that can be triggered, buildings generally are not destruct-able; even the glass is bulletproof.
What you’re talking about is two-state models with a “up” and “down” state and an animation in between with a trigger, such as a team winning the round. It’s a nice solution to the programming problems, but it isn’t true destruction. Not in the sense most people would expect. i.e. you cannot shoot every window, C4 every wall, blow every bridge.
This is what they had in BF:BC2, less so in BF3, but would appear to be used more extensively in BF4.

Being able to level each and every skyscraper would be interesting but you have to keep in mind they want to keep the playing field balanced. Leveling that one skyscraper alone drastically changes the battlefield, doing so with every single skyscraper would likely be a map balancing nightmare.

I put clad instead of “GLAD”! Wow.

At poster, it is not a scripted event. A scripted event as you stated means the games makes it happen automatically at a certain point. They clearly said in the video that you can see the players doing damage to the buildings support structures. That and it had also been said that to bring that skyscraper down would take 6 c4 packs on each support column. That would mean the players can bring that building down whenever they want, not that its scripted to happen every time.

I hate being “that guy” but it is a scripted event if x happens y occurs. What is left to the player is when it happens. From the research I have done a substantial amount of damage must be done to both of the main support columns of the building.
I am really looking forward to this game I feel that it represents the rise of Battlefield as the dominant military fps on the market and I hope to see all of you on the battlefield.

Not really, that’s like saying blowing up walls is scripted. C4 is the x and the destroyed wall is y. I wouldn’t consider it scripted because you have to destroy something to make it happen whereas in Caspian Border, the tower falls after a certain amount of tickets are left.
