40 minutes of Battlefield 4 multiplayer gameplay

New gameplay video shows a ton of footage -- over 40 minutes in total.

EA and DICE have been releasing Battlefield 4 gameplay left and right over the past week, and so have the YouTube gamers who had access to Battlefield 4 at E3 and other events. The latest video, running at 40 minutes, shows pretty much every aspect of the game on the Siege of Shanghai map. We get to see a ton of weapons and vehicles in action, such as the trusty M1 Abrams tank, the UH-1Y Venom “Huey”, and many more. We have to warn you though, the guy who’s playing most definitely isn’t a Battlefield veteran.

After watching the whole 40 minutes of Battlefield 4 gameplay, and while it looks pretty impressive, we have to say it resembles BF3 a lot. It’s almost as if we’re looking at a large BF3 expansion — even the VO appears to be the same (and so do the in-game ribbons and awards). Keep in mind that this is still the “alpha” version (according to DICE), so it’s likely that plenty of things will change in the next few months.

What do you think of the gameplay footage? Let us know in the comments section!

Does showcase plenty of weapons, but I’m sick of this map. This footage makes me slightly less excited for BF4. I mean, look at that footage. It almost looks exactly like BF3. Also, that was shot at E3. I don’t why they decided to release that footage now.

even though everytime he dies there’s a banner that clearly says BATTLEFIELD 4 AT E3

is speaking without knowing something you do regularly?

People were allowed to bring in game capture devices to E3 and record their gameplay of BF4. The banner was what every player saw.

I haven’t watched the video yet, but does anyone else miss the trailers? I feel like we’re not seeing anything new with these uncut videos. I want to see other maps and a whole new batch of weapons. A short 3 minute video of awesomeness is better than 40 minutes of stuff you’ve seen and is starting to get stale. And why give the videos to individual youtubers? It feels like they’re not wanting the whole community to see BF4. Upload it on your own channel EA! We already have a whole lot of E3 footage. Nothing new right now.

3.9, soooo close to being a full BF4, but not quite.

3.1indeed. I was somewhat enjoying the video until the guy was about to parachute onto the boat (which would have been epic), but the “get back in the fight” prompt came up for the parachuter and the boat driver.

BF4 is going to be all about close and medium-quarter battles just like BF3, with no huge maps where the spawns are spread far apart and require a vehicle to get to and not a pogo stick.

What happened to the real Battlefield?

Arma 3 is going to be exactly what I want in an online combat game, I believe.

This is E3 footage where you see ChaBoyy playing, he has several hundred BF3 clips on YT, I don’t know how that qualifies as “most definitely isn’t a Battlefield veteran”. His on foot playing wasn’t that bad except for the part where he went Recon and he stayed out in the open way too often. But like others said the more Siege of Shanghai footage you see the more boring it becomes and all the more obvious that BF4 mostly is a reiteration of BF3.

He is a battlefield veteran. It just because they couldn’t change their sensitivity at E3 that actually almost everyone played very bad there. So don’t insult him!

This game will be awesome, especially for the console players whos been playing on 30 fps all the time in bf3.

You forgot: with bad graphics, just 24 players and a shitty controler.

The graphics are not bad on console. It’s the lighting that sucks. All the CQ maps look ugly, but Kharg Island, Caspian Border, and many others look nice.

Am I the only one who’s happy about 64 players more than the whole 30 more FPS thing?

I hate how everyone is saying battlefield 3.5, etc. I mean come on guys. Of course it’s going to look somewhat like battlefield 3. It’s the sequel to the game! They can’t change everything. If they did change everything it wouldn’t be battlefield…

BF4 = BF3.5 THIS IS A FULL PRICED EXPANSION TREATED AS A FULL RELEASE! BOLOX! I wont buy this till its price will match the maybe maybe at a $20 mark….most likely at a $10 mark…since its just like bf3 with some new maps and some filters removed…not much change here vs bf3

First off, bf4 will never be knocked down to $10. You’ll at least need to wait 10+ years for that. Secondly, of course it’s some what like bf3…it’s the next game idiot. Bf4 offers a lot more than bf3( For example: new distruction, new weapons, new vehicles, new maps, commander mode, new look, etc). You can’t change everything. I agree with Just a Fan

how can you say that battle field is so much more put together than call of duty

This game needs more mid-range sounds. Compared to BC2, the sound effects are a little bit tinny, especially the gunfire sounds.

Again, it’s the next game. How exactly did you expect them to change it?

I’m amazed at how much you lot moan. I am by no means a DICE fanboy however I think that what they have lined up for BF4 is extraordinary.
Every one of these features is Massive win for me:

    64 players
    Commander mode
    Bigger maps
    5 man squads
    Water based skirmishes
    New vehicles
    New weapons
    Massively enhanced graphics and animations
    Counter knife

The only thing that I feel needs addressing in BF4 from Bf3 that has not been mentioned yet is Team Balancing. BF3 does a horrendous job of balancing teams before, during and after matches. 99% of the games I play always feature an unfair match, whereby one team will have all of the highest ranking players and the other team will have the lowest ranking players. Even when a round ends the teams will not rebalance and subsequent rounds continue with the insane advantage.

I think that team balancing should be done on a player vs player subtraction system whereby each of the players is split in an alternative A/B fashion going from the highest rank to the lowest rank.
This means that the top 2 players would be on different sides, player 3 and 4 would be on different sides, and the balancing would continue as such thereafter.

I think the main problem is the top 5 players per team or “heros” generally control the entire game. They get most of the points, they lead the attacks, and they control most of the vehicles. So all they need to do really is ensure that both teams have equally matched “heros” – the top 5 players per team – and the rest of the randoms are just cannon fodder.

This is one map we’re looking at here and all in all i’d say it’s put together very well. As you should know, the size of Battlefield maps vary and this map is not the biggest nor the smallest and i can guarantee that as game developers will always release an ‘average’ or ‘base’ map for the public to see before release. BF4 is going to be twice what BF3 was and still is due to all the different dynamics. So, all you people who are complaining should save that for when you’ve experienced it for yourself rather than watching someone who is shocking and then you can voice your opinion as to whether it’s going down the shitter or not. Having read into BF4 thoroughly as i’m genuinely delerious at the prospect of playing it, i believe that BF4 is far ahead of what we should be expecting for 2013. Just look at BF3 because that’s still greater than what we should be expecting. So, BF4 is a completely new dimension and is a huge step forward for all games not just FPS.
