A closer look at the Battlefield 4 geo leaderboards

New details and a high-res screenshot of the location-based leaderboards in BF4.

DICE has released a high-re sscreenshot showing the new Battlefield 4 geographical leaderboards feature. First spotted in the Battlelog trailer, the geo-based leaderboards give players a whole new way of comparing their stats with friends and other players.

Players will be able to compare their Battlefield 4 stats with those in the nearby area. Of course, this uses location data, and DICE has confirmed that players can turn this feature off if wanted. Players can compare themselves to others in a variety of Battlefield 4 categories. For example, they can compare the best Assault class players in their neighborhood, or who has most kills with the M416 rifle in their city. Or country. Or the whole world. There are plenty of options to choose from.

The new location-based Battlefield 4 leaderboards are an interesting feature that we’re sure many gamers will appreciate. So far Battlelog hasn’t offered anything like this, and in order to get detailed world rankings, players usually had to go to third party stats sites. This time, it looks like DICE is making extra effort to satisfy the stats junkies in Battlefield 4 (and we’re sure there will be plenty of those — including us).

It’s unknown if the new leaderboard feature is limited to Battlefield 4 or whether it will be added later to BF3. Check out the new leaderboard screenshot released by DICE below. Will you be giving your location and using the new leaderboards in the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section!

Give me a game that works and I will be much happier with this, rather than knowing which block the dude is on that just shot me after_i_dove_behind_a_wall.

Yeah the game was slow. If you dove behind a crye, for example, on your killers screen it would still show you in the open. Battlefield 4 should have that fixed.

It looks like you can choose to not use this feature so if you’re concerned about something like that then you can simply turn it off.

I’m getting so scared ’bout the guns’ names! 🙁 M4A1 is FAMAS lol
M16A3/4 is AK-12! :O I don’t think we will have the Russian guns in this game! Cause it meant to be about the CHINA!

All weapon models are probably still placeholders, expect it to be fixed before the beta begins.

    Thanks for the update.

I don’t think it is wildly fascinating to compare myself to players from other continents.

But – to see how I’m doing relative to other players in the city I live in, makes it all the more interesting.

I think many people will want to play more and try to get better. For who would not stand at the bar, bragging about being the best Assault in town 🙂

I think this will be awesome 🙂 I hope that many other people will give their location, otherwise you maybe are the only guy in a big city xD I hope that all 3 platforms will have all their players on the same map, so xbox, ps and pc together shown.
But maybe it can fail like with the dogtags customization where not everyone does that and leave a blank dogtag behind.

I think its a verry good thing you can make new friends when you know where they live, if you wana be friend with someone in out your one country you can do that way easylier now.

To the guy living in the water, perhaps they are emphasizing the “mobile” ability bf4 will have ? : ) Maybe this map doesn’t just indicate where you live , but where you are actually playing at that moment.
