Battlefield 4 supports “dynamic factions”

Maps won't feature locked-in factions -- players will be able to play as any faction on any map.

Battlefield 4 factions on mapsSome new multiplayer details have emerged from an interview with Battlefield 4 producer Patrick Bach. In a new video interview, Bach reveals that Battlefield 4 will support “dynamic factions”. This means that a map might have the US faction vs Russia in one round, and the next round it might be US vs China, or China vs Russia. There are two factions set by standard, but server owners can chose the dynamic faction option, to mix things up in each round.

In all previous games, maps have been locked with two factions, which always made sense, given the geographical placement of the map (e.g a map set in China in BF2 always had the Chinese faction etc.)

Bach also gave some additional information about Battlefield 4. When asked about some of the new features of the game, he said that soldier customization will be greater than in BF3, and that they have optimized the streaming system to allow even more weapons, and vehicles in the game. A great new feature for PC gamers is HUD customization, where players can customize and resize the HUD and their elements.

Finally, he said that Battlefield 4 will not feature any night maps, as developer DICE found that too hard, as players couldn’t see anything. Instead, the game will have maps at day, at dusk, and at dawn instead. You can check out the complete interview here.

This is so good news! Who cares about night maps?! At least I don’t! Having more vehicles and this “dynamic factions” thing is really really good!

But you can see fine at night. The only time I couldn’t see crap was at the day maps because of the stupid SUN GLARE! Too hard to see at night? Please tell me about your sun glare DICE.

I would like to know about sun glare as well, cause it was ridiculous in BF3. And I actually liked having night maps. Overall the map diversity was a bit of let down in BF3, most maps were desert or urban maps, only 2 snow maps, 2 night maps, 0 jungle maps and 3 woodland maps.

I actually would have at least liked really dark indoors. Make it a bit more tactical.

WTF!!!!! what has happened to the real DICE? its like they have been replaced with a company that listens to what users have been asking for and adding features they want…..next you will be telling me they have enabled battlefield recorder in BF4!

Yea. Look how cool it would be. Think about it for youtubers playing together. Having third person views. Switching between enemies third person and free cam after the game. No more need to waste cpu performance on allways recording. It would be fantastic for cinematics and gameplay show-off.

WHAT! Server rentals are back! I hope they take away the rights they gave to the players who rented it. It was stupid that players who paid just as much money as I did for the game can decide what weapons to use and if they get butt hurt they can ruin your time!
And no night maps! WHAT THE FRICK IS THAT! It was too hard for players to see? HUH! I didn’t have any problems with seeing! So STUPID! THE SUN IS TOO BRIGHT ON THE DAY MAPS DICE! And a good night map is great for stealth! Nelson Bay anyone?

This is one more reason to play on PC, eventhough badmins do exist on that platform, there are plenty of decent servers to be found. Lately though the problem of segmentation is getting quite annoying, certain maps and gamemodes are hardly played anymore.

all servers should belong to DICE & EA & putting private servers back if you gonna do a movie or play with friends .

Dynamic factions sounds like an awesome new addition to the series. I was totally bummed when it was only US vs. RU in BF3. It should have included the Iranian Army as well (only makes, sense, considering, well 95% of the maps were set in Iran). Hopefully we’ll see additional factions added later on in the lifespan of the game.

This is SICK, especially the HUD customization, but having no night maps I do not like, there were flashlights in BF3 and we couldnt really use them properly, and we still can’t now :D/D:

lol isn’t it the point to not see everything that easily in night maps?
Don’t tell me you can’t create proper lights in rooms and street lamps on the streets, and don’t forget the flashlights for the soldiers.
Can’t you see good enough with them at night? You can light the shit out of enemies though, shouldn’t be a problem to actually use the light to see in the dark, right? \o/

Tehran Highway and Death Valley weren’t really night maps. everything was just blue
i want a true night map where it is actually difficult to see. it would still be fair cuz everybody playing on that map would have to deal with it in their own way.
Caspian Border and Armored Shield weren’t really jungle maps.
i want a TRUE JUNGLE MAP, just ONE! like, something out of Crysis 2007. a DENSE forest that could be tricky to navigate. ridiculous amounts of cover. a jungle. with animals. lol

Yeah, it’s a real shame there are no night maps. Even if they made just one, Dice would see how popular it would be. Some of us want to use more stealth in the game, and at the moment, it’s hopeless.

Too hard to see, at night? No fcuking way?!??!?! Make a damn Night Time DLC pack, and it will succeed!
