Battlefield 4 supports “dynamic factions”
Some new multiplayer details have emerged from an interview with Battlefield 4 producer Patrick Bach. In a new video interview, Bach reveals that Battlefield 4 will support “dynamic factions”. This means that a map might have the US faction vs Russia in one round, and the next round it might be US vs China, or China vs Russia. There are two factions set by standard, but server owners can chose the dynamic faction option, to mix things up in each round.
In all previous games, maps have been locked with two factions, which always made sense, given the geographical placement of the map (e.g a map set in China in BF2 always had the Chinese faction etc.)
Bach also gave some additional information about Battlefield 4. When asked about some of the new features of the game, he said that soldier customization will be greater than in BF3, and that they have optimized the streaming system to allow even more weapons, and vehicles in the game. A great new feature for PC gamers is HUD customization, where players can customize and resize the HUD and their elements.
Finally, he said that Battlefield 4 will not feature any night maps, as developer DICE found that too hard, as players couldn’t see anything. Instead, the game will have maps at day, at dusk, and at dawn instead. You can check out the complete interview here.
