DICE: Titan mode might return in Battlefield 4
Battlefield 4 might be getting a game mode from BF2142. Called “Titan”, it was a popular mode with players back in 2006 in BF2142, but we haven’t seen anything similar to it since. We might just get something like it in Battlefield 4, according to DICE’s Lars Gustavsson.
In a recent video interview at GamesCom, Gustavsson was asked about a possible Titan mode in Battlefield 4. He said that it’s on the list of ideas, and that they haven’t really decided on the content in upcoming DLC. Gustavsson said that the team at DICE was capable of making a game mode like Titan for Battlefield 4, praising the big talent at the studio.
Furthermore, he said that they haven’t pinned down the exact content of the upcoming Battlefield 4 expansion packs, adding: “I love titan mode and who knows in what form it might return in the future”. So far there are 5 major Battlefield 4 expansion packs scheduled for release over the next couple of years.
In Titan, two teams each control a large, floating aircraft carrier known as a Titan. On the ground a several missile sites which fire missiles at the Titans, depleting their shields. The more control points a team has, the more missiles are launched at the enemy titan, and the faster the shields are brought down. Once the shields are down, players can board the enemy titan and destroy the inner core, which will destroy the titan and win the match.
We’ll have to wait and see what the future brings — DICE has already announced 5 Battlefield 4 expansion packs, but we haven’t gotten many details about many of them. It’s definitely a possibility of implementing Titan with aircraft carriers — which would be perfect for the upcoming DLC Naval Strike.
DICE has a history of introducing new game modes with DLC packs, which further increases chances of seeing something like a Titan game mode in the future.
