DICE: Titan mode might return in Battlefield 4

Titan mode might return in one of the Battlefield 4 expansion packs.

Battlefield 4 titan rumor
Battlefield 4 might be getting a game mode from BF2142. Called “Titan”, it was a popular mode with players back in 2006 in BF2142, but we haven’t seen anything similar to it since. We might just get something like it in Battlefield 4, according to DICE’s Lars Gustavsson.

In a recent video interview at GamesCom, Gustavsson was asked about a possible Titan mode in Battlefield 4. He said that it’s on the list of ideas, and that they haven’t really decided on the content in upcoming DLC. Gustavsson said that the team at DICE was capable of making a game mode like Titan for Battlefield 4, praising the big talent at the studio.

Furthermore, he said that they haven’t pinned down the exact content of the upcoming Battlefield 4 expansion packs, adding: “I love titan mode and who knows in what form it might return in the future”. So far there are 5 major Battlefield 4 expansion packs scheduled for release over the next couple of years.

In Titan, two teams each control a large, floating aircraft carrier known as a Titan. On the ground a several missile sites which fire missiles at the Titans, depleting their shields. The more control points a team has, the more missiles are launched at the enemy titan, and the faster the shields are brought down. Once the shields are down, players can board the enemy titan and destroy the inner core, which will destroy the titan and win the match.

We’ll have to wait and see what the future brings — DICE has already announced 5 Battlefield 4 expansion packs, but we haven’t gotten many details about many of them. It’s definitely a possibility of implementing Titan with aircraft carriers — which would be perfect for the upcoming DLC Naval Strike.

DICE has a history of introducing new game modes with DLC packs, which further increases chances of seeing something like a Titan game mode in the future.

Saying no to futurism, no way for Battlefield to be like Call of Duty.

Well, it’s a floating aircraft carrier and as far as I know those don’t exist (yet).

I’m pretty sure every Aircraft carrier floats, even the first ones. I think you might have flying and floating mixed up

If you use the core concept of the Titan mode, it doesn’t have to be futuristic. What if it’s two warships instead of two flying fortress ?

But of course, it’s better if it’s Syfy. Doesn’t Star Wars come to mind eh ?

How many Battlefield games do you own?
BF2142 was thoroughly enjoyable and still remains today one of my favourites from the Battlefield franchise.
Dice were there long before Call of Duty went a little bit “Sci-fi” and most nostalgic fans want this as a DLC. Something they could release in the way they did Battlefield Vietnam as a DLC for Bad Company 2.
The only problem here with DICE doing another Sci-fi is that they’re working on Starwars Battlefront.
But anyways… yeah Titan Mode in Frostbite 3 please, 2142 or 2143 (like the easter egg you had on wake island)
Give me my walker, give me my titan, just take my money

I totally agree with you there. I wasn’t a big fan of BF2142. I want BF to stay with modern combat. Not futuristic crap. Leave that to Halo. But I WOULD like to see something like titan mode, but with a more modern approach. Like boarding the ship with a helicopter instead of some kind of futuristic vehicle.

I am very excited about this game mode possibly returning. Bf2142 was the most underrated part,in the whole franchise. I at first was against the futuristic setting, but it is in my top three bf games.

C’mon DICE… Be brave and ambitious… lets see a 1942 era Coral Sea map mixed with Titan Mode set in the Not too ridicules future (say 2050) so we still have Air Craft Carriers yet futuristic-like guns and see how that goes. Then maybe a 2142 sequal all of it’s own!!!!

You dont even need it futuristic. just have the regular Liaoning aircraft carrier which is chinese/russian. and any Nimitz class carrier.

In fact, titan mode was probably the best multiplayer fps game ever made. no other game really has ever had the same multiplayer experience…

Some people really are thick as shit! You really think there gonna have it with ACTUAL TITANS? Are you stupid? It will be an aircraft carrier (as mentioned above) out in the sea! Aircraft carriers either side of a huge island with multiple cannons on it. I don’t know how the shields part will work, but could just make it that you just need to destroy it with the cannons instead of mounting the AC to destroy it

The shields could be replaced by breaching the hull to provide entry points instead.

So Titan mode is kinda similar to the Alderaan PVP map in SWTOR.
    Sounds interesting.

The name titan mode cannot be called titan mode without titan ships.

For the first time in years, you can have a choice between assaulting an enemy titan, defending yours, or fighting for missle silos!

Titan mode it too similar to comquest. Less game modes is better (less players disspursed which meens more player feel) hopefully there is no hardcore mode. Again i think it just seperates plaayers. I want (conquest,Rush,TDM,capture the flag, some other game mode)

No, just no, the more the better, if you don’t like it don’t play it.
