Brand new map and game mode will be showcased at GamesCom on August 21.

DICE has revealed that they will show off a brand new Battlefield 4 map and game mode at GamesCom on August 21. GamesCom is the larges games event in the world, and draws over 250,000 people in Cologne, Germany. Back in 2011, DICE used GamesCom to reveal all the big details about BF3, so we expect big news this time as well.

So far we know that there are several new Battlefield 4 game modes, from the testers of the alpha trial. The new game modes mentioned were Elimination and Obliteration, and it’s likely that we’ll see one of these at GamesCom. Regarding the new map, it could be the snow-covered map we briefly saw during the Battlelog trailer.

DICE has also released a new screenshot of the game, showing the Stinger anti-air missile, and revealed some interesting details: the support class will now have a “remote controlled mortar”, and the XM25 grenade launcher (which we already knew). Check out the new Battlefield 4 screen below, which, once again, takes place on the Siege of Shanghai map.

Just googled it, looks like it. I bet the system will be like the load out in Bad Company 1, you call it in by radio etc.

Finally, found a BF player that played BC1. Now, I just gotta find one that plays BF2:MC.

Show me a big map with spread out spawn points and I’ll be impressed. Show a medium-sized Shanghai type map with close spawn points and I’m done with BF.

You think Siege of Shanghai is “medium-sized”? Are you serious?

And you come to a Battlefield fan website, to tell us that if things don’t go your way, you’ll be “done”? Like, NOW you’ll be done, after much, much smaller maps are found on BF3?

Hahaha, sit down. You have that BF4 pre-order on lock. lmao

I’m so done with you 😛
But it is perfectly fine to post criticism of BF4 and put in personal requests (my list is rather large), but yes those pointless threats are a bridge too far. Afterall we want the game to be the best in its genre.

What is that giant swirly thing to the left?

Also, the mortar will probably be some sort of hybrid between the Bad Company 2 “Mortar Strike” and the ACTUAL mortar tube in Battlefield 3. Going to be interesting to see how it really works out, though.

      It’s a statue mate 😉
Next to the big skycraper on the water side, you could even see that in the official E3 multiplayer demo.
If I remember correctly the mortar in BC2 fired 6 shells which made it a bit OP, I hope the number of shells is less this time, with minimal splash damage.

Haha, thanks for clarifying what that was; never noticed it in the E3 trailer, it stands out in this image. 🙂

And yeah, I agree that the number of shells should be reduced.
