DICE developer questions Ubisoft on “day one online multiplayer”

Has DICE completely forgotten just how awful the Battlefield 4 launch was?

Battlefield 4 had an awful launch, so bad that it it took months of work and several patches for the game to be playable at all, especially on the PC.

But that doesn’t stop one of the top DICE developers from questioning whether another developer can “deliver online day 1″. In a recent tweet, DICE’s Alan Kertz commented on Ubisoft’s online racing game The Crew, saying that it’s cool, but questions whether Ubisoft can deliver online multiplayer on launch.

Of all the game developers in the world, DICE should be the last ones to ever question another developer on day one multiplayer or on launch stability.

Has DICE completely forgotten just how awful Battlefield 4’s “day one online” was? Not only that, but how awful the first six months were, with crashes, netcode problems, lag, etc.? Even after all the patches, the game still has issues, almost a year after being released. It took EA nearly 9 months to admit that “Battlefield 4 had a bad launch“.

We don’t know if Kertz is trolling of if he’s being sincere. Either way, a tweet like that shouldn’t come from anyone within DICE. And we know that this isn’t the first time a DICE member has trolled fans.

We’re sure Ubisoft’s The Crew will have decent online multiplayer at launch. It’s hard to get it any worse than DICE did with Battlefield 4.

Take a look at his twitter bio. “Personal Tweets, Random Musings, All Thoughts my Own.” . So it has nothing to do with him working at DICE, this is his personal twitter. And he doesn’t even have something to do with the problems bf4 experienced that he is a designer person and not a coder. And Ubisoft also doesn’t have the best reputation.

true… he does say “Personal tweets” and “all thoughts my own” but that does not mean that he is always going to say things to his own opinion but rather to the company and what right does he have to say to another company that they are going to fail at launch… yes they might have a bad launch but being part of the company that got voted “the worst gaming company” for 3+ years he can not say much to insult other companies… but that i am mad about is the fact that BF4central is going into peoples lives and picking at every little thing that people say, granted BF4central does have to say something every once in a while to keep the website open.
media is just at people all the time and should keep info to themselves until it is right to talk about it, someone might say something that they might regret later on and it is the media that will make it worse.

so please people, make your own judgment and do not hate him for saying what he said and just let it take its own turn as he might be genuine about it being his own opinion like what “ARandomDude” said.

I think it was good to mention this.
The tweet may be from a personal account, but it is a public message. The tweet was to everyone.

I read it differently though. It doesn’t say he thinks that Ubisoft will be bad. It says he is worried.
Perhaps he is worried that they will be great and thus show up DICE even more?

Maybe he wasn’t having a go and just speaking from his own experience of how hard day 1 multiplayer is.
