Battlefield 4 HUD

Battlefield 4 HUD shows the player all the necessary information on the screen. The HUD in Battlefield 4 is similar to previous games in the series. The HUD displays things such as the Minimap, ammo and health status, objectives, and player’s squad and teammates. The Battlefield 4 HUD can be somewhat customized on the PC, while on consoles it’s mostly static.

Battlefield 4 HUD complete
Most of the Battlefield 4 HUD elements are displayed at the lower part of the screen. The left corner has the minimap and additional information, while the right corner features things such as ammo and health. Here’s the breakdown of the HUD in Battlefield 4:

Top left corner: empty
Top right corner: displays the recent kills by teammates and enemies, including the names of players and the weapon/vehicle that was used.
Lower left corner: shows the minimap, the current score and ticket status, and squad information as well.
Lower right corner: ammo count and health bar / health status.
Lower middle: gadget shortcuts

The HUD (Heads Up Display) can be adjusted by server owners, who can limit certain aspects of it. The Hardcore mode removes many of the HUD elements, such as the minimap and the ammo/health status. Players can also type in a command (“UI.DrawEnable”) in the console on the PC to hide the HUD completely. This is useful when recording gameplay footage for movies, etc.

As a new player to BF4 I find a lot of valuable information at this website.

However I am overwhelmed at the Battlefield 4 HUD user interface (UI) elements. Not knowing what they mean. Is there a guide or record somewhere, on any website, that tells and explains what each of these elements are?

As with Rob, what are the shortcuts in the lower middle do? Do you have to be at a certain point in the game to function?
